Position Summary:

  • Advances the overall quality of strategic thinking and design applied technology.
  • Collaborates to determine the look-and-feel of web sites, including online course materials.
  • Creates original media for use on the sites. Works with Marketing and the Instructional Design Group to determine and implement the web design parameters, style guides and visual standards.
  • Produces graphic material for use in advertising and promotion of online services and products. Manages freelance designers and direct reports.
  • The ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for quality, attention to detail, adherence to deadlines and creative problem solving.

Formal Education Required and/or Equivalent Experience:

  • Either a) Bachelor of Arts in Graphics or Multimedia Design, Instructional Design, Software Design, or related area; or b) a great portfolio

  • Macromedia Flash - Daily-Weekly

Overview of Job Duties:

  1. Collaborate with Marketing and/or Instructional Design teams to establish creative direction for online services, products and programs.
  2. Produce original graphics, media and interface design for Jones Knowledge web sites.
  3. Ensure that all visual media supports marketing/branding objectives and propose changes as needed.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate (both oral and written) with JIU staff, JIU design and development team, and external consultants.
  5. Ability to evaluate and analyze the content, clarity and effectiveness of web-based materials.
  6. Ability to manage freelance artists and/or a direct report.
  7. Deliver projects on time and on budget by managing and properly allocating resources for development and production plans.
  8. Work as a productive and cooperative member of a design and development team.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
