Jones Interactive™, Inc. (JII) manages customer and corporate data processing for the Jones companies.

Jones’ business activities utilize a wide breadth of technologies. Most basic and complex business activities utilize the technical infrastructures that are provided by the support and management of technologies provided by the Jones Interactive™, Inc. Group. Simple tasks such as answering a customer’s phone call, receiving a faxed transaction, sending an email to a co-worker, editing a document, or complex tasks such as processing Web transactions, providing online access to a customer on the Internet, or providing employee communications. There is very little that occurs at Jones with out utilization of the technologies provided and supported by the Information Technology Operations group.

One of the main responsibilities of the Information Technology Operations group is 24/7/365 availability of Jones technologies. This includes the Jones Corporate Data Center that provides services to over 150 Servers that crunch all business transactions and steward data through application interfaces, the Corporate data and Telecommunications Network that allow for telephone communications with clients and data to flow between customers and amongst employees, the many databases that house all of the customer and other data, the messaging and email Infrastructures that process millions of in and outbound email on any given month, and Technology Continuity Planning that provide recovery planning capabilities for IT in the event of a catastrophic event.

This year’s business plan “theme” for the Information Technology Operations group is “Getting Back to the Basics”. This plan is focused on the activities and does not include details of the 2007 staffing plan.
